Earlier this year, a cropped version of the top photo below was prominently featured in the front section of the Washington Post.  No accompanying story.  Just a heading and caption noting that this was a result of post-Mardi Gras flooding in New Orleans.

Immediately below the photo – taking up the same 3 column widths – was an unrelated article entitled “Antarctic, Greenland ice sheets are melting faster, report finds”.  Yes, another alarmist global warming study, this one speculating that the sea level could rise by up to 6 inches by 2050.  Now, if my math’s right, this means that in two centuries, the sea level could rise by nearly 2½ feet.  This, of course, could portend severe hardship for the sand castle industry.

But putting aside, for the moment, the is-there-or-isn’t-there on global warming.  It’s this selective placement of a wholly unrelated event – a photo of a flood just happens to appear above a story on global warming and rising sea levels – to subliminally reinforce the liberal meme that has become so absurdly commonplace in today’s media outlets.

And to show you that the Post hasn’t lost their touch, the two bottom photos are from today’s front section.  In the first, Obama signed some patent law.  The second is from a recent campaign stop jobs address.  Notice any similarities?!?  Checking now to see if these were photoshopped from a Justin Bieber concert.

Note to Editors.  Your cheerleading and devotion to your causes might be becoming just a bit too transparent.  A tad more fair and balanced (easy … easy) reporting may just help to restore a little of that lost credibility.  Oh, and on today’s pictures, if you use a softer backlighting, the haloes will come through better.
